Rudy Reichert
Inducted 1990

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Years Played: 1942,1943

Rudy was born and raised in Ann Arbor and played no organized hockey before enrolling at the University of Michigan. To learn the game, Coach Lowrey asked him to practice with both the freshmen and varsity team four hours everday. Playing during World War II days, his teams were not only short on victories but players too. Rudy played both defense and right wing. His most memorable experience at Michigan was beating Minnesota on the road when they probably shouldn't have and also scoring a winning goal against the Gophers.

He doesn't recall his scoring feats but thinks he scored about six goals a season. Rudy graduated from the College of Literature, Science, and Arts in 1943, majoring in zoology. In 1946, he graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. During the major expansion program at the Catharine McAuley Health Center and the move to its new location, a new medical building was built and named in his honor for his long and dedicated service to the Ann Arbor medical profession. Rudy played many years of old timers hockey in the Ann Arbor Recreation leagues.
