Dave Butts
Inducted 1991
Regina, Saskatchewan
Years Played: 1961,1962,1963

Dave was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and played hockey in the Regina Pats Minor Hockey System - peewee to juvenile and for Campion College (high school) before coming to the University of Michigan. One of over a dozen players to follow Red Berenson to Michigan from the Regina area, Dave enrolled here in the fall of 1959.

He played in goal for two seasons and when coach Al Renfrew was short on players for the 1962-63 season, Dave played the forward position his senior year. He had many memorable experiences while at the University of Michigan and two of them were having the opportunity to play a game he loved and to get an education in the classroom and in life while attending the great University of Michigan. His other great experience was participating in the NCAA Final Four in the 1961-1962 season in Utica, New York. At the Dekers Awards Banquet in 1963, Dave was presented with a special award - the only one since that date - "To a 100% Player 100% of the Time" for his sincere efforts and sportsmanship during his career. He graduated from the School of Education in 1963 with a B.S. degree with a Physical Education Major.
