1924-25

2/2/25: First surviving local CMR.

5/25: Fathers' Day weekend, A through F minor in existence. House Manager, Finance Committee, and Steward in existence.

1925-26

General Notes: $300/mo rent paid to alumni association. Rent is $20/mo. 25% of men at Michigan are in Greek system. Fraternities on campus over 15 years have two votes on IFC.

12/25: Anyone getting an "E" in a class fined $5 per credit hour.

3/26: Porter's room on first floor turned into card room. Furniture chairman created.

1926-27

10/26: Standing Rush committee appointed.

1/27: Everyone living in the house is considered an active member. Pay phone installed for long distance calls.

3/27: Bi-monthly formal dinners.

1927-28

10/27: Founders' Day banquet. J-Hop and house party fund.

11/27: Standing Social committee created. Brother named captain of the football team.

2/28: New Victrola acquired. Victrola committee appointed.

3/28: $1 fine for not attending chapter. .25 fine for disorderly conduct in chapter room.

5/28: Freshman reprimanded for negative attitude about the house. June house bills $32.70

1928-29

5/29: Brother hospitalized with scarlet fever.

1929-30

General Notes: Fraternity recognized as the 7th most influential on campus. Finance Control Board created to organize chapter finances; consists of "A" and 3 alumni.

11/29: Members fined for breaking Victrola records and causing disturbances in dormitory. 4 brothers broadcast on WWJ for opera singing.

5/30: First radio purchased.

1930-31

General Notes: Board set at $32.50/mo. House capacity is 28, house valued at $70,000.

11/30: Alumni Finance Control Plan established. Athletic chairman created.

1/31: Set of bylaws presented to chapter.

2/31: Building and grounds committee established.

1931-32

11/31: No more dances until 3 men are pledged.

12/31: Brother is NCAA football All-American.

1932-33

General Notes: Alumni finance control plan fails, alumni lose control of house ownership.

1/33: Chapter accepts members from a closed fraternity. Radio tax.

1933-34

General Notes: House and lot valued at $42,000. House mortgaged at $70,000. Rent decreased to $18/mo. & initiation dues decreased to $40.

6/34: Chapter closed.

1947-48

General Notes: 2.29 GPA

2/14/48: Chapter reactivated; new officers elected.

1948-49

10/48: $5 fine for beer in the house. .05 fine for swearing on the first floor.

12/48: Piano purchased.

1/49: First J-Hop switch (with Phi Kappa Sigma). Pledge Master and "B" separated.

2/49: MAL approved. Basement renovations.

1949-50

General Notes: Delta Chi named top social fraternity. GPA 2.3-2.4

11/49: Forced depledging. IFC says no fraternities can have discrimination in their bylaws.

1/50: First MAL election.

4/50: Rent is $25/mo.

5/50: Chapter buys its first television. No animals in house without chapter approval. Chapter invited to tea at University President Ruthven's house.

1950-51

10/50: Jug with MSU to be given to the winner of the UM/MSU football game.

11/50: Anyone with a chapter motion must come to exec first. "D" says no reimbursement without a receipt.

12/50: Ohio State sends us a live sheep as the result of a bet on a football game.

2/51: Chapter has $2000 deficit.

5/51: "A" appoints committees.

1951-52

11/51: All-campus pledge dinner. Parlor fee increased to $8.

12/51: Formal apology given to woman insulted at chapter meeting. Partition between back room and music room removed. Coffee hour 10-11AM.

2/52: Steward on executive board.

3/52: House GPA is 2.54.

4/52: Mothers' weekend. "A" resigns due to lack of honor points.

1952-53

General Notes: Parties increased from one every two weeks to once a week. 2.47 GPA.

9/52: Initiation fee raised to $100.

10/52: Junior IFC created with pledge class presidents from all fraternities.

12/52: University President Harlan Hatcher visits for dinner.

2/53: Fall GPA is 2.53.

3/53: Pledges steal jug from MSU chapter. Fraternity men and pledges asked by University not to participate in panty raids. Executive board must meet at least 3 days before chapter meeting. Pledge Policy committee formed (2 pledges, 3 actives; actions subject to chapter approval). Have a car in Wolverun soapbox derby. Historian created. Pledges steal chapter's silverware.

4/53: Actives having unofficial party must clean up within 24 hours or face a $2 fine per active. Active GPA is 2.47. Pledge GPA is 2.19.

1953-54

9/53: "A" made a full-year position. Pledge Co-Ordinating Committee made a permanent committee. IFC Presidents' retreat. No one may pledge without a 2.0 GPA.

10/53: Chapter invites Bob Hope over for dinner after a show. No response. Required blackball vote of pledges.

11/53: Sex chairman appointed.

12/53: "A" elected one week before the other officers. Pledges studying national constitution over Christmas break.

1/54: No pledge initiated without 8 hours of sleep the night before.

2/54: Alumni Finance Control Board re-established.

3/54: Meal prices: $1.75/dinner, $1/lunch, .50/breakfast. "D" sees lawyer to track down bad debtors.

5/54: Seniors exempted from last 7 chapter meetings. Alumni Control Board rejects brothers' proposed inactivity. 2 pledges depledged due to insufficient grades. Every 4th chapter meeting must be a ritual meeting.

1954-55

10/54: $15 by IFC for pledging someone without a 2.0 GPA. Helped initiate Western Michigan officers.

11/54: First Greek Week. Steward gets 1/3 off meal bills. Merit system created for pledges. 48 mandatory hours of work and 8 hours of mandatory rest before initiation.

1/55: Calendar of events created. Basement room improved due to more in-housers.

2/55: Help Week committee created. Will not rent a room to brothers with accounts receivable. ACB orders accounts receivable under $200 (is $550). Inspections and fines if you don't do your house job. No social reimbursement if it is not an official social function.

3/55: Pledge places 3rd in 400 yd dash at Big Ten championships. 2.53 GPA. Officers must write a written report within 6 weeks of the end of their term. 60 alumni attend Founders' Day banquet. Bulletin board bought for stairwell.

5/55: End of year awards: luminary, pledge, athlete of year.

1955-56

General Notes: First Big Brother program.

9/55: New roof, basement room. House bills are $1.95/day in food, $2.50 social fee, $9 dues, $6000 in rent. 33 set as in-house limit.

11/55: 10 foot Christmas tree in house.

2/56: Record 10.5 hour chapter meeting.

3/56: 2.47 GPA. Pledges paint furnace room.

4/56: Got throne chair from Michigan Union. House buys candy machine. $1.50 fine for missing a serenade.

1956-57

9/56: Board increased to $2, social fee increased to $3.

10/56: Only "A" and "D" can authorize expenditures. Bought Coke machine.

11/56: Pledge raids outlawed. First recorded announcements at chapter.

2/57: "E" Thomas French wins "E" Key Award.

4/57: New sink in kitchen, new wiring. 2.53 GPA. University withholds grades of those owing house bills.

1957-58

General Notes: Delta Chi wins first in Michigras float contest.

10/57: House buys incinerator. $40 in homecoming donations.

2/58: Pledges informed that they are expected to 1) join 1 all-campus extracurricular activity unless has a GPA below 2.1 or a job, 2) play in 1 IM sport unless on the varsity team or handicapped. Scholarship chair must get tutors for pledges.

3/58: Pledge critiques at 7,10, and 13 weeks (majority to blackball at 7 wks, 3 votes at 10 wks, 1 vote at 13 wks).

1958-59

11/58: GPA is 2.41.

1/59: Capacity of house set at 26. All members must sign live-in contract when initiated. Those wanting to live out of house will be given priority: 1) Seniors 2) Length of association 3) Meal plan support. Anyone breaching this contract will be expelled.

2/59: Big brother must study with little brother 1 night per week.

3/59: House bill defined as 1) room 2) maintenance 3) dues 4) board. All ineffectual fining discontinued.

5/59: Maid hired for 1959-60 school year. Committee of Standards formed (6 most senior members; 3/6 must live in-house)

1959-60

9/59: Fines for excessive noise jump .50 with each offense. $3 fine for eating/drinking in chapter room. $2 fine for putting stuff in ashtrays.

10/59: Pledges must know fraternity history, university history, study the IFC, and have 2 weeks of etiquette. Must address actives as "mister", cannot use front stairs, must wear beanies.

12/59: Pledges panel basement. First honorary initiate.

2/60: .50 fine for sleeping in TV and chapter rooms and leaving pizza boxes around. New phone system.

3/60: Push-ups is penalty for pledges. 1/2 keg bought. First dork award in minutes. Rush chair sets up rush groups. First detailed announcements in minutes.

4/60: Actives paid $4 for doing door duty and bartending at parties.

5/60: First active/alumni softball game. Guiding Light award created. Year-end awards are dork, wedge, and joke of the year.
