About This Project

Hello and welcome!

Mission

Learning a new medium can prove to be a daunting task. All writers,
from the casual to the professional, are not immune to this
phenomenon. Technology has dramatically changed the landscape of authorship. From Page to Screen aims to ease the transition into this new medium and expose writers to the exciting new possibilities now present to them.

Objective

This page was created to serve as a resource and introduction in how to move your work from page to screen. The online world opens many doors to the writer that previously were closed or hidden. Though with new possibilities come new challenges. Not only must the digital writer acquire a new skill set, but old concerns, such as copyright, take on new forms.

However foreign or familiar the internet and the digital realm may seem, there are tools and resources to aid and benefit writers of all levels. By exposing you to the various tools and ways to write digitally, we will be arming you with the knowledge needed to further develop your skills. So don’t be afraid to try new things and experiment with tried and true conventions; it’s all digital and mistakes can be erased with the click of a button! So adventure on and begin exploring the exciting world of digital writing.

This site began as a project in the Humanities & Technologies (English 415/Information 516) class, taught by Professor Eric Rabkin, at the University of Michigan. We decided that we wanted to explore the realm of hyper-fiction. From there, we expanded our focus and eventually came up with the site you see before you: a resource for the digital writer. If you have any question, comments, etc...please don’t hesitate to send us feedback. We hope you enjoy your time here on the site.
