We are always seeking licensed drivers to serve as subjects in UMTRI
research. The Driver Interface Group conducts about 6 experiments a year,
with a typical experiment involving 16-36 subjects. Drivers of all ages
are generally tested, with the ages of interest depending upon the target
user population and interests of the sponsor. All subjects should be able-bodied.
Subjects should bring their license and any eye wear normally worn while
driving. Experiments last about 2 hours and may involve driving either
the simulator or an instrumented test vehicle for one or two sessions.
Depending on the demands of the experiment, subjects are typically paid
$15-$20 per hour. Those interested in being placed on the group's subject
list should contact Betty Winstel, the Human Factors Division secretary
at 734-764-4158.
