This website is a creation of Katie Bondy and Grace Edwards. It was a final project for Professor David Porter's The Rise of the Novel (English 430) course at the University of Michigan. During the course, we read Daniel Defoe's Roxana, Samuel Richardson's Pamela, Henry Fielding's Joseph Andrews, Lawrence Sterne's Tristram Shandy, and Francis Burney's Evelina. The class examined the relationship of these texts with English culture and society during the Eighteenth Century.
