After the separation of
Wollstonecraft and Imlay, Wollstonecraft was often depressed. She
repeatedly wept over Imlay. Her career as an activist began to
suffer.
After she ended her relationship with Imlay. Until one day she met a
tall slim and mature man by the name of William Godwin.
Wollstonecraft did not find William to be attractive at first, but
she found him to be a charming and a supportive man. William was very
encouraging to Wollstonecraft. He did not want her gift of writing
and speaking to cease, due to a failed relationship. His words of
support encouraged Wollstonecraft to get back involved with the
movement.
They developed a close
friendship and from this friendship they became interested in each
other. On March 29, 1797 William Godwin and Mary Wollenstonecraft
married, later Wollenstonecraft gave birth to her second
daughter.
