Advice to next year's ChE 344 class from Winter 2006

Thoroughly understand Chapters 1-4, it'll get you through the rest of the semester and make your life so much easier.

Make cheat sheets for each chapter to condense the most pertinent formula.

Use the algorithm whenever you get stuck.

Review all the homework before the exams. Understand all graph, and shapes of graphs and how the shape can vary.

Don't miss a lecture, ever !!!

Read the book!! The exams are more qualitative than quantitative.

Think broad and fast about the OEP.

Don't miss classes.

Read the material before class!!

Read ahead of time.

Redo all class problems.

Do online material - all of it.

Pay attention to lecture - zoning out for 5 minutes can set you back an hour.

Start your open-ended problem really early.

This is classic: make sure you DO READ the book before lecture and regularly.

Form a study group!

Don't miss a single lecture.

Make sure you're awake before going to lecture.

Review the homework and outline the solution. That's right, just outline to make sure you know the logic.

Come to class on time.

Participate during class.

Make sure you keep up with the material - everything is cumulative. Be sure to ask for clarifications if you need it.

Get lots of sleep! The lectures make so much more sense that way.

Completely being familiar with the lecture is quite crucial, that would save time to review before the exam.

Don't hesitate to ask questions to Professor Fogler.

Make sure you understand Polymath, you'll need it.

Don't leave the OEP until the day before it's due.

Make sure you don't get too behind in the reading.

Work in groups when possible, ask questions, and answer questions.
