    The mother is a poem written by Gwendolyn Brooks. It gives you an outlook on the way that mothers feel when they go through an abortion. Mothers want to let their children live but it is not always possible. Abortion is not only something that takes place in Chicago, it takes place all over the world.

    Sister Carrie was a character who wanted to experience the city life. It tells a story of a woman who traveled around Chicago and wanted to make it big in the Windy City.

    In Native Son we explored the lives of African American in Chicago and the struggle they had to go through to make it. Even though times have changed things are still hard for minorities and Chicago still has many neighborhoods of different races.
