Lectures, which meet twice weekly, are quite unique in that each one is presented by a guest lecturer who speaks on
his or her own field, and how this field relates to the study of our
environment. In this manner, students are presented environmental issues
from the perspective of a variety of disciplines. Sometimes frustrating,
often challenging, always interesting, the lectures require students to
actively examine different ideas which are latter shared and debated
in class discussion.
The many fields represented by the guest speakers have included economics
and the environment, rain forests, solid waste disposal, sustainability,
and environmental policy and the states. The most popular lectures have
focused on population growth, animal rights, rain forest conservation and
energy conservation.
