Polymath 6.1™

Polymath Use

Polymath™ is an easy-to-use numerical computation package that allows students and professionals to use personal computers to solve the following types of problems:

Polymath™ is unique in that the problems are entered just like their mathematical equations, and there is a minimal learning curve. Problem solutions are easily found with robust algorithms. This allows very convenient problem solving to be used in chemical reaction engineering and other areas of chemical engineering, leading to an enhanced educational experience for students.

Polymath Trial Version

The trial version of Polymath™ provided on this DVD will execute for 15 days.  At any time, one may purchase Polymath that will execute for a variety of time periods from a special website for Fogler textbooks:  www.polymath-software.com/fogler  You may need to enter the ISBN for this text that is 0137146124 and the name of this DVD that is CRE08.  Note that ONLY this special website discounts even more the already discounted Educational Version of Polymath that is available from the main Polymath website: www.polymath-software.com

The current Polymath Educational version allows the user to solve up to 30 simultaneous ordinary differential equations, 30 simultaneous nonlinear algebraic equations, and 40 explicit algebraic equations. There is a Polymath Professional version that deals with much larger problems that is available from the main Polymath website, and this version must be used for all professional work.

Introduction and extensive use of Polymath™ is covered in Problem Solving in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering with POLYMATH, Excel, and MATLAB, 2/E by Michael B. Cutlip of the University of Connecticut and Mordechai Shacham of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. This inexpensive paperback book by the authors of Polymath™ is available from Prentice Hall and major book retailers such as Amazon.com.
