Introduction to Fitness and Health

Introduces fundamental theories, applications and personal experiences necessary for a comprehensive understanding of relationships between fitness and physical activity to overall health and wellbeing throughout the lifespan. This course is designed to equip students for lifelong understanding of themselves as integrated physiological, psychological, and sociological entities. Students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate:

  • An understanding of the importance of lifetime fitness and wellness.Improved critical thinking skills related to fitness, wellness and health.An understanding of the differences between health-related and sport-related physical fitness.An understanding of the interaction between exercise and health.
  • A desire to want to learn more about fitness and health.
