The Ate/Kuya Program is a new program where FASA members are paired with other FASA members to create families within FASA. Its a good way, especially for freshmen, of getting to know your peers and having a mentor help you out through your college experience. You may be assigned to an Ate/Kuya based on major, years at UofM, and/or interests. You can also request a certain Ate/Kuya. Within your family, you can hang out, bond, chill, do whatever you want, its up to you! Ate/Kuya in Filipino translates to big sister/big brother!
Interested in joining? E-mail our social chair Raisa Razalan (razalanr@umich.edu).

Filipino Americans Coming Together (FACT) is a Filipino weekend conference (October 24-26) held at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. FASA, along with over 15 other schools attend the conference every year to learn about current issues, cultural awareness, meet new people, and have an all out fun time.
The conference provides workshops, educating and enlightening students about issues about self-identity, culture, politics, entertainment, and more. A variety show also displays performances by other schools around the midwest followed by an afterset at the Canopy Club.
What does such an intriguing conference cost you? Your time for the weekend of October 24-26, as well as a certain amount of money (usually around $20) for gas and hotel (and extra $$ for variety show, club, food, and whatever else). Road trip, workshops, variety show, afterset, Filipinos, and a great weekend at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Don't miss out on what is definitely going to be a good time!
For more information, please visit the FACT website.
If you are interested in going, you will need to register for the conference (not yet available) AND email fasa-off@umich.edu so we can provide you with a ride as well as space in a hotel room.
