Details for 2006 Fellows Program

Applications are invited for the Fellows and Visitors Program of FOCUS, a major NSF-funded Physics Frontiers Center in the area of optical coherent control using ultrafast laser techniques. FOCUS is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative with leading projects in ultrahigh field lasers (petawatt), femtochemistry, novel particle accelerators, cold atom optics, quantum information science, and applications of sub-picosecond x-ray pulses. We invite applications for the following positions:
Visiting Scientists – short term visits of 6 weeks to one year to enable collaborative research (theory or experiment) in one or more areas of interest to FOCUS. We encourage proposals from groups of individuals who wish to collaborate on particular problems. We welcome proposals to spend all or part of a sabbatical leave at FOCUS, and we are also interested to receive applications from scientists in industrial organizations and national laboratories.

Postdoctoral Fellows – one to two year appointments working with FOCUS faculty on topics of ongoing interest in Ultrafast Optical Science.

Visiting appointments will be considered either at the UM or UTA campuses, or jointly. The positions are available immediately with some flexibility in the starting date. We especially encourage applications from under-represented groups, women and minorities.

Interested candidates should mail a CV, list of publications, brief description of proposed research at FOCUS, and names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers of three references to:
