Katie Hersberger

Analytical Chemistry

E-mail:kehersbe@umich.edu

I was born and raised in Indiana. I attended Indiana University for my undergraduate years, working with Dr. David Clemmer for my last two years. I studied the low molecular weight fraction of neurological proteins and peptides present in Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies). After graduating in May 2005, I came to Michigan as a graduate student in Fall 2005. I worked from May 2006-July 2008 with Dr. David Lubman on proteomic profiling of embryonic stem cells. Recently, I decided to switch labs and work with Dr. Kristina Hakansson. I am currently developing methods for sulfopeptide enrichment from complex mixtures.

More about me:
I love playing volleyball.
I am a die-hard Colts fan (my jersey is #93 Dwight Freeney--awesome defensive end)
my favorite drinks are bubble teas and Arnold Palmers (sans EtOH; just the 50:50 lemonade: iced tea)
I have a cat named Stinky
