Philanthropy PACE Internal Social Intramural Sports External Social UM Greek Community GFB and SFE place 3rd overall in Greek Week 2005! See UM Greek Community below. GFB Wins 4 Out of All 8 Go Greek Awards for the UM Panhellenic Community Each year eight "Go Greek" awards are given to the house that excels most in a certain area of Greek Life. This year Gamma Phi Beta won four out of all eight! Our chapter was given the Go Greek award for each of the following categories:
Campus Involvement Alumni Relations Philanthropy Senior Programming (Involvement) Gamma Phi's international philanthropy is special camping for girls in conjunction with Camp Fire USA (formerly Campfire Girls). Chapters are encouraged to support their local Campfire USA programs. In addition to the sisterhood and social activity found at Gamma Phi Beta, Beta chapter sisters also give our time to a multitude of community service events throughout the year. Our biggest philanthropy activity is the annual Bake Sale, held during the fall semester before one of the football games at the Big House; all proceeds go to a nearby camp. Other activities sisters recently participated in can be seen in the list below:
UM Dance Marathon - Dancers and Moralers
Neurological Run Several Red Cross Blood Drives Greek Week events (for Camp Heartland and the Coach Carr Cancer Fund)
Kim and Nicole - two of our Dancers - with their DM team! Our annual philanthropy Bake Sale to support Camp Fire USA

katekesh@umich.edu PACE: Personal and Chapter Enrichment One Sunday a month at Gamma Phi Beta, Beta chapter members gather to participate in an activity designed to enhance the value of their time spent in this sorority. Incorporating the ideals of sisterhood, service, education, social, and personal development, PACE topics range from learning about eating disorders, responsible alcohol use, chemical dependency, date rape, spousal abuse and the battered woman syndrome, to managing your credit, job interviewing techniques, professional etiquette and health issues and much more. PACE is a unique and important aspect of Gamma Phi Beta membership which provides helpful information that can be carried throughout a member's life. PACE chair: Katie Keshishian, katekesh@umich.edu
There is always something going on for the sisters of Gamma Phi Beta, but sometimes you just want to take a break and get to know your sisters better. Sisters are always coming up with new ideas for fun activities, so the list of things we do is really never-ending. Some of the events we plan during the year, besides ritual activities, include: Barn Dance - An outdoor party everyone looks forward to in the fall - complete with a bonfire, hayride, and cows! Date Parties - Whether it's Whirlyball, or "My Tie" we always have fun with the guys. Formal - We all get gorgeous for this night out - held this past year at the Roostertail in downtown Detroit.
Game Nights Retreat - Once a semester; we go over business, but always include fun activities like going to an apple orchard! Family Night - Every girl in the house has a "big sis," so these are nights when each "family" hangs out together doing whatever they want to do, like bowling, going out to eat, or playing mini-golf. Ice Cream! - Nothing more needs to be said. TV - There's always someone else who is just as fanatical as you about catching that television show...what are we going to do without Sex and the City and Friends? Intramural (IM) Sports and Activities If you like playing sports or just watching them, our house offers a wide variety of opportunities involving IM sports. Recently we have participated in IM flag football, soccer, volleyball, mini-soccer (indoor soccer), broomball, and others. We're even thinking of taking on badminton together this year! We are the current IM Broomball champions for two years in a row! Also, last year we were Soccer champions - a three-year winning streak. Often, we play in an all-sorority league to compete against other houses or we form a co-ed team with a fraternity, which is always fun. Intramural sports offer our sisters the chance to compete, but even if you have no experience or don't feel comfortable playing a new sport, we also remember we're just playing to have fun. Activities chair: Frances Duberstein, fduber@umich.edu
Whether it's going to football games together at the Big House or hanging out with other fraternities and sororities at Third Party Vendors (so-called because it's an event that takes place through a "third party" facility, like a restaurant or bar), we always have a good time with other Greek houses. Football Saturdays - Always an event. Go Wolverines!
Third Party Vendors - fun events with other Greek houses, like our 80s-themed one in Greektown (downtown Detroit) with FIJI.

Make sure not to miss out on this great opportunity! Greek Week 2005 Greek Week is a philanthropic event that supports organizations such as Camp Heartland (a camp for children with AIDS) as well as promoting spirit and enthusiasm throughout the UM Greek community. Panhellenic sororities are each teamed with IFC fraternities and Multicultural Greek chapters, forming fifteen teams that compete against each other for points in events during a week at the end of March. With events such as Sing and Variety, Lip Jam, Mr. Greek Week, Diag Day, State Street Day, and more, this time of the year is hard to beat for fun and Greek spirit! Team 14 - Gamma Phi Beta and Sigma Phi Epsilon 3rd place overall!!
The big Greek Week finale - the Sing and Variety competition! This year Team 14 Sing placed fourth overall with "You Give Love a Bad Name" and Variety was amazing.
