Over two decades ago, the UM/OSU Blood Battle began as a service project coordinated between the University of Michigan and Ohio State University chapters of the international co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. A beautiful blood drop trophy, and year-long bragging rights, are awarded to the campus which donates the most pints of blood during the blood drives. U of M has won around half of the past Blood Battles. The U of M Blood Battle is the largest blood drive in the nation! In 2001, Blood Battle collected over 1700 pints of blood from the University of Michigan. Please give blood if you are able. Your pint of blood helps people in Southeastern Michigan and helps to alleviate the critical blood shortage throughout the United States.
EVERY TWO SECONDS SOMEONE NEEDS BLOOD.
