Looking forward to being inducted as a new member? There is another whole year in front of our chapter, and we most welcome our new members to come to our New Member Recognition Event. This year, the keynote speaker will be Dr. Mark D. Hunter, Henry A. Gleason Collegiate Professor in the University of Michigan Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. It will be the best time for us to introduce to new members our chapter and plentiful future opportunities brought by the International Honour Society.

As the semester winds down, our students invest more in the process of job/internship searching. This month's general meeting will feature the career center's workshop on interview skills. Be prepared and ask questions!

This is one of our largest fund-raising events for our organization. We would love to have you there and help us out! Members will receive 15 lock and key points for every hour shift you work and these points are put towards obtaining free graduation items. Come celebrate the induction of our newest members into Golden Key International Society with very special guest speaker Dr. Joseph Schwarz. Friends and family are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
Dr. John J.H. "Joe" Schwarz received his undergraduate degree in history from the Univewrsity of Michigan in 1959, and his medical degree from Wayne State University in 1964. Dr. Schwarz served his residency in otolaryngology at Harvard, finishing in 1974. He has been in private practice in Battle Creek, Michigan for 33 years. Schwarz served in Southeast Asia for five years, first with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and as Assistant Naval Attaché in Indonesia. He then served with the Central Intelligence Agency in Laos and in Vietnam. Dr. Schwarz was a City Commissioner then Mayor of Battle Creek, from 1979 until 1986. He was in the Michigan Senate from 1987 until 2002, serving as President Pro Tempore of the Senate from 1993 until 2002. From 2005 to 2007 he was a Member of Congress. Dr. Schwarz is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, and serves on numerous boards and commissions. As a lecturer at the Ford School, he teaches Topics in Public Policy: Congress & State Legislatures.

Encourage your friends to donate their old books to Better World Books. Keep an eye out for our collection boxes around campus. Each book you donate will benefit Worldfund, an organization working in Latin America to reduce poverty through education.
