Fundraising License Plates
The Secretary of State offers fundraising license plates to raise money for the University of Michigan.
The funds that are received from the sale of the plates helps to support a variety of outreach activities in the state. These projects benefit students and faculty who participate in providing the outreach.
Original fees
The original fee for a Specialty or University License Plate is $35, in addition to the annual registration fee. The cause or university receives $25. A Specialty or University Disability License Plate featuring the international wheelchair symbol embossed on the plate is also available.
Specialty and University License Plates -- $10 fee in addition to annual registration fee. The cause or university receives $10. Personalized Plates -- A $15 renewal fee for a personalized license plate is collected, in addition to the $10 fee and annual registration fee. The cause or university receives $10.

Specialty and University License Plates can be personalized for an additional $30 using up to five characters. A Specialty or University Disability License Plate with up to four characters is also available in a personalized version. Specialty and University original personalized license plates must be ordered at a Secretary of State branch office.
