Statistics and Computation Service Migration to Red Hat

The ITCS Statistics and Computation Service (SCS) runs a customized Linux distribution based on Linux From Scratch. We are currently working to migrate the service to Red Hat Linux. We expect this to be done by the end of the Winter term.

SCS Hardware

Each of the production SCS machines have two AMD Opteron processors at 2600 MHz. Each machine has 16 GB of RAM. Machines in the testing pool have two 8-core Xeon processors at 2500 MHz, and 24 GB of RAM.

The hours of operation for CSCAR are

  • 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday
  • CSCAR is closed 12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m. every Tuesday for a staff meeting.
