General Conference Information
This conference aims to bring together two of the richest strands of recent work in early modern cultural history and theory to open up fresh perspectives on a hundred-year period that witnessed significant developments in the configuration of modern conceptions of class and gender in Britain and the American colonies. The two-day event will feature twelve principal speakers, all established and highly regarded scholars from departments of history and literature in the US and the UK.
When and Where
Conference sessions will be held at the Michigan League on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor (see map). Sessions will run from approximately 9:00 am to 6:15 pm on both Friday and Saturday, with scheduled breaks for lunch and refreshments. A reception for conference participants will be held on Friday evening at the nearby Clements Library, where a special exhibition of library holdings related to the conference theme will also be on view. Directions and maps to central campus, the Michigan League, and the Clements Library are available for your convenience.
