Subject: computer tutorials
I will be offering two short computer courses over the next two
weeks.
The first course, an introduction to computer networking, will
discuss how to
1. Access data on your U of M account from any computer with an
internet
connection.
2. Execute programs on the University of Michigan's
computational servers.
3. Backup and restore data.
4. Create a personal web page.
This course will be offered in The Economics Computer Lab
(Lorch, 3rd Floor)
on Monday, 9/13 from 5:40 -7 pm.
The second course, an introduction to LaTeX, will introduce the
LaTeX markup
language, an alternative to Microsoft Word. LaTeX is the
preferred
typesetting program for many economists largely because of its
stability (it
doesn't crash while working on papers, dissertations, etc.),
and the ease
with which mathematical equations may be entered.
This course will be offered in The Economics Computer Lab
(Lorch, 3rd Floor)
on Monday, 9/20 at 5:40 - 7 pm.
