``[T]he improvement of the dexterity of the workman necessarily increases the quantity of the work he can perform; and the division of labour, by reducing every man's business to some one simple operation, and by making this operation the sole employment of his life, necessarily increases very much the dexterity of the workman.''
--Adam Smith

The GES Professional Development Page

A small collection student-endorsed resources for the Job Market and professional development.

First, Job Market resources:

  1. John Cawley's A Guide (and Advice) for Economists on the U. S. Junior Academic Job Market; i've been told a must-read.
  2. JOE: Job Openings for Economists, which is a posting of all economics jobs in the U.S., at least by members of the AEA.

And Professional development:

  1. The National Bureau of Economics Research (NBER); you can search their working papers and sign up for their roughly weekly research alerts. The last is particularly cool: you can choose categories and stuff.
