Greek Activities Review Panel (GARP)

The Greek Activities Review Panhel, informally know as GARP, is the judicial body for the Greek Community at Michigan. It is the purpose of the GARP to “honestly and ethically interpret, uphold, and enforce the Constitution, Bylaws, policies and procedures, codes of conduct, other governing documents, and any other rules or regulations as established by the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Association, the Multicultural Greek Council, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.” GARP has the power to adjudicate allegations of misconduct and the power to levy sanctions resulting from the actions or inactions of any chapter affiliated with one of the four councils. For example, GARP hears allegations of hazing presented by the Hazing Task Force. In addition, it is the appeals board when chapters disagree with initial sanctions handed out by the councils or the Social Responsibility Committee. The complete GARP bylaws are available here.
