The University of Michigan Greek Week raises monetary support for national and local charitable organizations through cultivating leadership, service, and community within the University of Michigan campus and the greater Ann Arbor area. Greek Week also aims to promote diversity and understanding through partnership with campus and community organizations.

The year long project known as Greek Week 2008 is philanthropic event dedicated to the support and raising of funds for charitable organizations that touch the lives of students, faculty, and the entire community. The culmination of months of planning by a core of steering committee is a ten-day schedule of events and activities for the 4,500 students in the University of  Michigan Greek Community and the  70,000 students, faculty and staff at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Greek Week also works closely with the Office of Greek Life, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council on logistics, administrative details, and information and news about Greek Week.

The events of Greek Week encourage not only an atmosphere of fun and enthusiasm, but also education and service, bringing students and members of the community together to raise money and awareness of our charities. Although the University of Michigan Greek Community organizes Greek Week, the entire campus and greater Metro-Detroit communities feel the impact of our spirit of giving. Greek Week aims to foster awareness of the fundamental importance of community, service and cultivate leadership through philanthropic activities that unite the Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan community.

Greek Week is an experience that truly touches the lives of all involved, but our success depends on the participation of corporate sponsors. Involvement in Greek Week gives companies an opportunity to reach a large, diverse audience in a unique and personal manner, while supporting these extremely worthy causes.
