Text Box: For the past four years Rev. Judy of the Guild House has been leading groups of University students to Honduras during the U of M spring break week. Working through the Honduran-based organization CCD (Christian Commission for Development), four student groups have now chosen to spend their spring breaks helping in the rebuild of a land devastated by hurricane Mitch. This year, 13 students and two leaders spent one week in the village of Las Brisas; a small community of coffee farmers. Our project was to work alongside the men, women and children of Las Brisas to build a school for their many precious children. Over a thousand bags of cement later, the community is much closer to reaching their goal.

This fall we again begin preparations for our annual Alternative Spring Break trip. This year we will partner with the Ecumenical Center and International Residence and welcome the Wesley Foundation to our group. We will also be holding two trips and one to Honduras (24 participants) and one to the southern United States, likely hurricane ravaged Florida (12-16 participants). These trips continue to be very important to students as they work on life plans, vocations, and social consciousness. Dates for this years trips are February 26-March 5, 2005. As we do each year we help subsidize the trip, as all the funds must come from the students. Air travel and building materials are expensive as well as lodging and meals. We work hard to keep the cost down, but your help is needed. Please mark donations, ASB.
