Chinese Art Treasures (National Palace Museum, Taiwan)
534 photographs of paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, tapestries, bronzes, lacquer, wood, and ivory carvings from the collection of the National Palace Museum in Taiwan. Exhibited in the U.S. in 1961-62. Photographed by Raymond Schwartz and James R. Dunlop.
  • Single photographs are available upon request to educational institutions .

    Hobart Collection of Chinese Paintings
    170 photographs of a small, private collection of works of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The collection was photographed in 1969 by Raymond Schwartz before the public auction at the Parke-Bernet Galleries. The set provides useful research material, otherwise difficult to obtain since the paintings have been dispersed.
  • Single photographs are available upon request to educational institutions.

    Ming and Qing Exhibition
    (Hong Kong, 1970)
    Chinese paintings by major artists from the beginning Ming Dynasty through the 18th century from private collections in Hong Kong. Exhibited in Hong Kong in 1970. Photographed by Eddie Chan.

    Donald Wilber

    70 rolls illustrating Islamic architecture in Iran and Afghanistan. Original negatives exposed by Donald Wilber. Some have been published, chiefly in the Survey of Persian Art. Many of the rolls contain as many as 45 frames.

    Arthur Upham Pope

    49 rolls of copy negatives taken of prints in the possession of Arthur Upham Pope. Many of the photographs illustrated in the Survey of Persian Art are included. Click to examine site list.

    Qasr al-Hayr

    Complete negative record of the University of Michigan and Harvard University excavations at Qasr al-Hayr East, Syria. Published as O. Grabar, R. Holod, J. Knudstad, and W. Trousdale, City in the Desert: Qasr al-Hayr East, Cambridge, 1978. All plates in City in the Desert, as well as many more, are represented in the 227 rolls of original negatives.


    This material is not fully catalogued, some identifications are questionable, and more complicated questions may be answerable only when a specialist is available in Ann Arbor.
