This set consists of Ming and Qing dynasty paintings, as well as works by artists born in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The set of 71 paintings includes 34 works from the Roy and Marilyn Papp Collection, 28 paintings either gifted to the museum or from the bequest of the Jeannette Shambaugh Elliott Collection, and 9 additional paintings from the Museum's holdings. The 283 slides include 45 paintings from the Ming and Qing periods; the remaining 26 works date from the modern period. The set includes 34 slides made from color transparencies on short-term loan to Asian Art Photographic Distribution. The set selection was made by Dr. Claudia Brown, in consultation with Dr. Ju-hsi Chou.
A note about this set: Some of the slides used in compiling this set were produced from 4x5" color transparencies provided by the Phoenix Art Museum and photographed by Craig Smith. These slides differ in quality from standard duplicate slides. A limited number of copies have been made. Once these have been sold, the set will be produced from master slides retained by AAPD. These slides are offered now at the same low price as duplicate slides.
