• Interaction of Cultures: Indian and Western Painting (1780 - 1910) from the Ehrenfeld Collection
November 27, 1999 - January 23, 2000

The approximately 95 paintings and works on paper in this exhibition, dating from 1780 to 1910, reveal the artistic interaction of Indian and Western cultures, considering not only the artistic development of Indian painters but also that of their Western counterparts (including Thomas and William Daniell and George Chinnery). The exhibit previously appeared at the Telfair Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia (April 10 - June 6, 1999) and the Honolulu Academy of Arts, Honolulu, Hawai'i (September 16 - November 7, 1999) and will travel to the British Library, London (Summer 2000).
