• Hokusai and Hiroshige: Great Japanese Prints from the James A. Michener Collection
Through August 1, 1999

The fourth rotation of prints by Hokusai and Hiroshige depicts the world of a new middle class, including not only their daily activities but also views of landmarks and natural wonders.

• Interaction of Cultures: Indian and Western Painting (1780 - 1910) from the Ehrenfeld Collection
September 16 - November 7, 1999

The approximately 95 paintings and works on paper in this exhibition, dating from 1780 to 1910, reveal the artistic interaction of Indian and Western cultures, considering not only the artistic development of Indian painters but also that of their Western counterparts (including Thomas and William Daniell and George Chinnery). The exhibit previously appeared at the Telfair Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia (April 10 - June 6, 1999) and will travel to the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Jacksonville, Florida (November 27, 1999 - January 23, 2000) and the British Library, London (Summer 2000).
