The exhibit of aims to explore new dimensions in the application of digital technology in artistic creation and provides visitors with new experiences and alternative visions of the relationships between art and technology.


•The Art of Living in the Future
December 17, 2000 -February 28, 2001

The exhibit features works jointly created by local artists and students, as they look forward to the challenge of living in the new millennium. In addition, a video illustrating the processes of design and creation will be screened.


•Happy Birthday: Emperor Qianlong
December 17, 2000 - March 15, 2001

The inaugural exhibition of this gallery features a hundred exhibits on loan from the Palace Museum of Beijing and offers a wonderful insight into the grand occasions that were the imperial banquets during the Qing Dynasty. To coincide with the exhibition, the Hong Kong Tourist Association has kindly assisted the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and approached local Chinese restaurants with the suggestion that they serve Qing palace cuisine during the period of the exhibition.


•Hong Kong Home: Multi-Stories
December 17, 2000 - June 30, 2001

The exhibition presents the interior designs that have been prevalent in Hong Kong in different eras and across different social classes. Computers set up in the gallery will allow visitors to have fun creating their own interior designs and seeing how their own homes could look!


•Hong Kong Comic World
December 17, 2000 - August 31, 2001

The exhibition focuses on the development of our society through the vision of a fascinating comic world. A reconstructed street-side barbershop allows visitors to enjoy the experience of the 2-D comic world.


•The Art of Traditional Chinese Woodblock Printing
December 17, 2000 - August 31, 2001

This inaugural exhibition features rare Lunar New Year woodblocks and prints. The gallery reconstructs a workshop to illustrate the woodblock printing process and the materials used and to reflect the historical and artistic significance of this traditional printing method.


•T.T.Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art

This gallery features fine and decorative Chinese arts from the collections of Dr T.T. Tsui. The exhibits mainly comprise ancient Chinese bronzes, ceramics and pottery from different dynasties, while there is also an exhibition of Tibetan Buddha statues and paintings in the gallery, which thus offers a rare chance to see many example of outstanding Chinese art.


•Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall

Cantonese opera is the performing art typical of Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces; it is also hugely popular in Hong Kong and Cantonese communities overseas. The permanent exhibition in the Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall reconstructs a shed theatre setting with a typical backstage display, allowing visitors a closer insight at this unique art. Whatıs more, costumes, make-up and documents are showcased, while the Museumıs archives will offer visitors the chance to look back at important performances from the past.


•Chao Shao-an Gallery
Ongoing

Named after Professor Chao Shao-an (1905-1998), this gallery is dedicated to the display of his masterpieces, manuscripts and sketches. Those who wish to learn more about this Lingnan master and his works as well as those who are interested in culture in general should not miss this exhibition.
