Princely Gifts from the Ottoman and Persian Courts, Linda Komaroof, Ph.D. (Curator of Islamic art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art) In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Ottoman Sultans and Persian Shahs had access to enormous wealth, which is reflected in sumptuous objects produced for the rulers, the ruling elite and as diplomatic gifts. The lecture will focus on the princely gifts sent from the Ottoman and Persian courts to the Russian Tsars. | ||||
