Origins and Influence: Six Centuries of Design in Anatolian Carpets
Designed to bring together individuals interested in learning more about rugs and textiles, The Textile Museum Rug Convention promotes scholarship, camaraderie, and the informal exchange of ideas. Programs will draw inspiration from the Museum's exhibit, "The Classical Tradition in Anatolian Carpets," which explores the rich and complex tradition of Anatolian carpet weaving, the impact of the Ottoman Court on the weaving tradition, the land and its people, and the place of Anatolian carpets in Western material culture. Rug Convention will include lectures, gallery walk-throughs, receptions, and a closing show-and-tell with Michael M. Seidman. Presenters include: Walter B. Denny (University of Massachusetts, Amherst); Julia Bailey (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston); and Gerard Paquin (collector). | ||||
