• 17 Squares: Long Nguyen at Mid-Career: On The Vietnam War relationship to September 11th
November 16, 2001 - January 4, 2002

This exhibit was the third in the Mid Career Artists Exhibition. Symbolist in style, Nguyen's paintings are based on his experience of the Vietnam War. In this exhibit, Nguyen will show a series of paintings, "Tales of Yellow Skin" that depicts intense struggle of life and death. He paints disfigured body parts howling in terror and sorrow on large oil canvases.


•Reappearing Exit IV: Performance Art of Zheng Lianjie
March 15 - April 28, 2002

Curated by Robert Lee, this solo-exhibit presents Zheng Lianjie's performance works in photographs and video documentation. The exhibit consists of photos, video, written material and installation. The participating photographers are: Li Yongsheng, Li Wenmin, and Wang Zemin in China, and Jim Shi, Yu Jie, and Zhou Mi in New York with Meng Kuishun and Shen Ming recording video.
