Time After Time: Asia And Our Moment
April 26 - July 13, 2003 | ||||
| This exhibit presents contemporary art from Asia that addresses concepts of time. As Asia experiences the rapid rebuilding of urban centers across the continent, the effects of modernity--such as temporal, physical and psychological displacement and fracture--collide with existing expressions of continuity, intimacy and geographic belonging. This project presents works that consider the public discourse about progress, personal investments in memory and tradition, transitional spaces, and the coexistence of multiple systems of time. Relying on the invaluable expertise of curators, critics and artists from major centers in Asia such as Taipei, Beijing, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Bangkok and Shanghai, the project will include painting, photography, sculpture and video by emerging and mid-career artists. | ||||

| Yunhee Min will create a suite of new site-specific paintings for YBCA. Min's paintings combine an interest in reinventing monochrome painting and the physical presence of large-scale sculpture.
