•Islamic Art and Patronage: Treasures from Kuwait
June 27 - September 15, 2002

A major international exhibit of Islamic art objects and paintings from the al-Sabah Collection in Kuwait. This stunning exhibit traces the role of patronage, both public and private, and contains many of the world's finest examples of Islamic arts ranging from jewel encrusted objects, rare ceramics from the 9th century to finely detailed miniatures and manuscripts. The exhibit presents a wide range of objects produced between the 8th and 18th centuries and in countries stretching from Spain to India and throughout the Middle East.

•Oriental Victorians
July 6 - November 17, 2002

This exhibit looks at the way British artists (predominantly) used the Middle East and other 'exotic' locations as the subject for art in the 19th century.

•Visual Cultures in Contemporary India
July 2004 - September 2004

The exhibit will focus on the inter-relationship of art, craft, and popular culture in India today. The exhibit will look at the flourishing co-existence of village and tribal traditions alongside urbanised contemporary art forms and explore how traditions are celebrated interrogated and disrupted in contemporary work which references traditional crafts, materials, forms, narratives and mythologies.
