| These artworks from the Gallery's Oriental collection illustrate the rich mythological and literary traditions of Asia. Examples include Indian miniatures from the 18th and 19th century that portray the incarnations of Vishnu; illustrations for the Bhagavata Purana that depict the life of Krishna; Qing Dynasty textiles, porcelain vessels, carved jade objects and silk dolls depicting Taoist immortals; and examples of Ukiyo-e wood-block prints that portray urban life associated with theatres, restaurants, teahouses, geisha and courtesans. | ||||
