			In a lecture illustrated with photography from her travels in Upper, Lower, and Central Burma and the Shan States, she discussed the development of Buddhism and monasteries in Burma, the role of monks and monasteries in society, and the process of building a monastery. She also describes the architectural features and floor plans unique to the monasteries of Burma.

			Liza Johnson uses video clips to illustrate her talk on the changing images and narratives on Afghanistan represented in television, from the Soviet period in the 1980s to coverage over the past ninety days.
