Interim Chair. Professor. Scholarly interests include twentieth-century art with a special focus on the histories of photography and cinema, particularly the creative processes that utilize the newer media techniques to form works of art. Publications include Gardner's Art through the Ages, 9th edition (co-editor) (1990) and "Art History and Cinema," Art Journal, (editor and contributor) (1983). Current research projects include two books: Patterns in the Flow (on Sonia Landy Sheridan) and Art as Information.
