ACSAA Color Slide Project
- Housed at the University
of Michigan, this non-profit project supplies images of the art
and architecture of India and other South and Southeast Asian
countries for educational and research purposes. The collection
of high-quality images consists of approximately 15,000 slides
available for purchase at a modest price.

AICT (Art Images for
College Teaching)
- "A royalty-free
image exchange reosurce fo r the eduational community,"
this project contains images spanning the entire history of art,
including non-Western art. The site contains select images from
the complete collection of images available on Kodak Photo-CDs.
Arrangements can be made to borrow and download the disks for
non-commercial purposes.

AMICO (Art Museum Image
Consortium)
- A not-for-profit
organization of nearly 30 institutions with art collections,
AMICO has created a digital library of images and documentation.
The AMICO library will contain more than 50,000 works from its
contributing members when it is made available for licensing
in 1999.

Archivision
- An architecture and
visual arts photo library supplying high quality images for educational
and commercial usage. Their archive consists of over 50,000 slides

Asian Art Photographic
Distribution
- A University of Michigan
supported, not-for-profit supplier of photographic materials
of Chinese and Japanese art. These slides are available for private
study and educational use. This site also includes a Pinyin-Wade-Giles
Concordance that can be downloaded and used as a reference source.
It is not comprehensive, as it only includes artists featured
in the AAPD catalog.

Bridgeman Art Library
- International collection
featuring more than 800 museums and galleries and spanning the
history of art. The site includes a searchable database consisting
of thumbnail images and documentation. Requests for orders can
also be made from the site.

Clearinghouse of Image
Databases
- Online directory
of image databases housed at the University of Arizona on a gopher
server. The scope of the project is to gather technical and descriptive
information about imaging projects as information resources.
The primary goal is to list projects; these projects are multi-disciplinary,
mulit-media, and international in nature. This site does not
link directly to the projects, it only provides information on
them.

- More than 1.5 million
of this company's 25 million historical, contemporary, celebrity,
and fine art images are available online for creative professionals

Getty Information Institute (formerly) Getty Art History Information
Program
- The Information Institute
aims to encourage collaboration among scholars and facilitate
access to art historical information. Here you can check out
many projects, including the Art
& Architecture Thesaurus (AAT), a thesaurus of art-historical
terminology; Union
List of Artist Names (ULAN), a database of artists' and architects'
names in both standard and variant forms; Thesaurus
of Geographic Names (TGN), a database of geographic place
names organized into hierarchical clusters; and A Guide to the
Description of Architectural Drawings, guidelines for describing
architectural drawings and archives. You can also search the
databases of Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, RILA,
and the Pronenance Index Sales Catalogues. New president and
CEO of the Getty Trust, Barry Munitz, has cancelled the Information
Institute as of June30, 1999, and will farm out some (but not
all) of its projects to other parts of the Getty and, possibly,
to non-Getty organizations. The fate of the Information Institute
website and its contents is yet undetermined.
