Since 1983 Louise and Alan Sellars have been collecting art by American women working in the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries. The slide set contains 175 paintings by 144 women artists. These artists participated in exhibitions of their time, and were recognized with awards, but until now, have remained less recognized by art scholars. Renewed interest in these artists and their quality work has brought attention to this extensive collection.
