Graduate Studies
Students can peruse graduate degrees in HJCS (MA and PhD) in a variety of fields. The program
trains graduate students in the fields of Hebrew literature and culture, Modern Jewish literature,
Israel Studies, Judaism in Late Antiquity, Rabbinic literature and culture and Jewish mysticism.
Graduate students supplement their advanced studies through internationally known programs at the
University of Michigan such as: Arabic,
Ancient Israel/Hebrew Bible, Judaism and
Christianity in the Graeco-Roman World (JCGRW) in the Department of Near-Eastern Studies, as well
as in departments such as Comparative Literature, English Literature,
Slavic, History, Anthropology and the Department of Political Science.

MA studies in HJCS are available through the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies
(you may apply online for admission into the M.A. in Judaic Studies Program)
Ph.D studies in HJCS are offered through the Department of Near-Eastern Studies.
