This course will provide tools, techniques and strategies to help you plan work to be delegated, coach employees to achieve peak performance and monitor results. It will also give you an opportunity to examine your delegation and leadership style and make adjustments as the situation requires.

Competencies: A Framework for Employee Success
Competencies provide a framework to guide and build exemplary employee performance that contributes to extraordinary organizational success.
You will learn to:
- Describe the purpose of competencies and how they are used in performance management
- Utilize the University of Michigan’s eight core competencies and related behavioral indicators to create job profiles
- Integrate competencies into hiring, on-boarding, performance planning and coaching to strengthen your unit or department
- Apply strategies to increase employee awareness of the core competencies and how they can assist in increasing performance
You will benefit by:
- Understanding competencies and behavioral performance associated with each competency level
- Leveraging competencies to develop job positions, interviewing candidates and creating on-boarding training

NOTE: This class is split into two components. The first half of the class will take place online, over a two week period.
