Since the University of Michigan laid its groundwork in Ann Arbor, MI, the campus has undergone numerous phases of construction and change across campus.

The purpose of this site is to illustrate the changes in the campus’s development through an interactive map called Mort’s Map. Mort’s Map was drawn to show U of M’s existing buildings layered on top of the original structures that have since been demolished. With the interactive map, users can click on their locations, learn more about the purposes that building served, and view historical photos of that building during its existence.
