COURSES

Intensive Beginning Classical Armenian 480

This course is designed for beginners with no previous knowledge of Classical Armenian. Emphasis will be placed on the grammar of Classical Armenian and reading of classical and medieval Armenian texts of historical, literary, religious, and philosophical nature. Classes will meet for four hours a day, five days a week. Students will be assigned homework and will be required to take a mid-term and a final exam, in addition to frequent tests. Robert W. Thomson's textbook, An Introduction to Classical Armenian, and supplementary texts and materials will be used.

Intensive Beginning Eastern Armenian 183

This course is designed for beginners with no previous knowledge of Eastern Armenian (the state language of Armenia.) Reading, writing, and speaking will be equally emphasized. Classes will meet four hours a day, five days a week; language lab will be conducted daily, and three tests will be administered each week. Students will be required to complete three hours of homework five days a week. A mid-term and a final examination will complete the course. A textbook of Eastern Armenian has been specially prepared for this course.

Intensive Beginning Western Armenian 173

This course is designed for beginners with no previous knowledge of Western Armenian. Reading, writing, and speaking will all be equally emphasized. Classes will meet four hours a day, five days a week. Language lab and lectures will be additional. Drills will be conducted daily and three tests will be administered each week. Students will be required to complete three hours of homework five days a week. A mid-term and a final examination will complete the course. K.B. Bardakjian's and R.W. Thomson's A Textbook of Modern Western Armenian will be used.
