In order to support our members (CPGIS members) to attend the CPGIS annual
conference (GeoInformatics'99,  Ann Arbor, MI, USA), CPGIS holds annual 
CONFERENCE TRAVEL AWARD competition. On behalf of CPGIS, the award committee 
welcomes participation from every member of CPGIS. For detailed information, 
please see the attached guidelines for this award.

                Guidelines for CPGIS Annual Conference Travel Award

I. Purpose:

   To support CPGIS members to attend the CPGIS annual conference

II. Eligibility:

  1) The applicant must be a registered CPGIS member who has paid membership
     dues for the past two years;

  2) The applicant has submitted a full paper, as the sole or first author,
     to the conference organizers;

  3) The applicant must present the paper at the CPGIS annual conference;

  4) The applicant is not currently living within 500 km from the conference
     site; and

  5) The applicant has no financial supports from other sources, including
     grants or project funds.

III. Selection and the amount of the award:

  1) The quality of applicant's paper;
  2) The record of contributions to CPGIS; and

  3) The cost of attending the conference.

IV. Announcement of the winners:

  The winners of the award will be announced at the annual conference. Winners
  must submit the original receipts of the airline tickets. The receipts may be
  returned only for tax filing purpose if requested.

V. Application deadline: 

  April 30, 1999.

VI. Application procedures:

  Send six copies of the conference paper with an application form (See
  Section VII) to:
