Akira Kasai, one of Japanese's most highly acclaimed Butoh performers, will be in Ann Arbor for a series of events from October 11-13. A Q&A session will be held on Monday, October 11 from 7-8:30pm in Room 1636 in the School of Social Work Building. On Tuesday, October 12, a dance workshop which is open to the public will meet from 2-4pm at the Dance Gallery Studio, 815 Wildt Street, Ann Arbor. For more

The Elephant Vanishes
Directed by Simon McBurney and inspired by Haruki Murakami's short stories, the London-based theater company Complicité presents this multimedia theater piece. CJS, in conjunction with the UMS, is organizing a book discussion on October 18 which will be led by Matthew Carl Strecher (Associate Professor of Japanese Literature,Toyo University; and author of Dances with Sheep: The Quest for Identity in the Fiction of Murakami Haruki, CJS Pubs). This event will take place from 7-8:30pm at the Ann Arbor District Library's Main Branch. The production will run for 4 consecutive nights at 8pm starting on October 20.
