The University of Michigan's Office of International Programs (OIP), a department within LS&A, administers over 90 programs, in 41 countries on 6 continents.
OIP programs are designed to enrich the undergraduate experience by
offering students opportunities for cultural immersion, intensive language learning, and participation in another educational system. Students earn Michigan in-residence credit for their coursework and may apply Michigan awarded financial aid to program costs.
The OIP serves also as a resource for the University and broader community at large, consulting with faculty, advisors, administrative staff, and others about international study conditions, trends and safety abroad and offering various kinds of advice and support in the development and management of education abroad programs. If you are concerned about health and security issues while abroad, please read a note about safety from our director and see the recently issued UM Overseas Travel Guidelines.
The University endorses study abroad as an integral part of the undergraduate experience. With careful, early planning most students can easily fit overseas study into their college years without delay of graduation and OIP staff are committed to helping them find the most suitable programs.
