IEDP China Participant Biographies Simone Brant is a second year Masters student in Public Policy and Natural Christine Chan is a second year Masters student in Public Policy. Her studies Patricia Costa is a second year Masters of Public Policy student. Her studies Tyler Curtis is a second year Master of Public Policy candidate Melissa D'Arcy is currently a first year Masters in Public Health student and Cindy Dyar is in her second year at the Law School . Her interests are primarily Ruifeng Fang is a second-year Masters student in Public Policy from China . His major interests include regulatory policy, economic and political development, and government management. Prior to coming to the Ford School , he worked as a legal officer in the Northwest Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China at Xi'an . This summer he interned with the Legal Bureau at the International Civil Aviation Organization, Montreal , Canada . He is a fellow of the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program. Jay Field is a second year Masters of Business Administration concentrating Michael Garris is a first year Masters of Public Policy student, concentrating in international economic development. He recently returned from Armenia , where he worked as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. Michael is interested in China 's economic development, and its impact on Chinese society. Mayuri Guntupalli is a second-year dual degree Masters in Public Policy and Masters in Business Administration student. Her studies focus on international trade and finance and small and medium enterprise development in emerging market countries. She has worked for a microfinance organization in India and most recently with the U.S. Mission to the UN Food Programs in Rome . Patrice Harduar is a dual degree Masters in Public Policy and Business Administration student. This summer she interned with a community and economic development organization known as the Uptown Consortium in Cincinnati , OH . She is particularly interested in social policy issues in China Shannon Hill is a second year Masters student in Public Policy and Russian and East European Studies. This summer she interned with the EastWest Institute in Kosovo and she is interested in the comparative political economy of China . Dan Hogan is a second year Masters student in International Health Epidemiology. His past work has focused on cost-effectiveness modeling of preventive and treatment-based HIV/AIDS interventions for regions of Africa and Asia . This past summer he was an intern at Jiangxi Normal University in Nanchang , where he was studying patterns of schistosomiasis around Poyang Lake . Cynthia Koenig is a second year Masters student in Natural Resources and Environment and Public Policy. Her studies focus on the role of social capital, participation and social entrepreneurship in conservation and development initiatives. She spent this past summer conducting research in Guatemala for her thesis on sustainable, community-based tourism, and interning with a local NGO, Conservation Tours Tikal. Chih Chia Lin is a second-year Masters in Public Policy student. His studies focus on macroeconomics, international trade, and Chinese economic development. He is planning to devote himself to researching in China-Taiwan relations and trade issues. Erica Miller is a second-year Masters in Public Policy student. Her studies focus on labor markets and social capital, and she most recently interned for the United Food and Commercial Workers International in Washington , D.C. Farouk Ophaso is a second year Masters in Public Policy student. His studies focus on human rights, finance, and business in Southeast Asia . He is most interested in exploring Chinese relations with Southeast Asia . Mariana Orloff is a second year student in Public Policy and Urban Planning. She's interested in international development, especially topics related to poverty reduction and social programs. Last summer she interned at World Bank, Poverty Reduction Group in Washington DC . Sumana Rajarethnam is a first year doctoral student. He is interested in the interaction between new forms of information and communication technology, social movements and rebel groups. Vishaal Rana is a second year joint MBA/MPP student focusing on Finance and International Development. This past summer he interned as an investment banking associate with Goldman Sachs. Gabriela Reyes is a second year Masters student in Public Policy and Business Administration focusing on Economic Development. This summer she interned with Youth Service America, a nonprofit organization based in Washington D.C. , researching best practices to increase revenue diversification, innovative partnerships, and performance measures in the nonprofit sector. She also worked this summer as a part-time research Josh Rosenfeld is in his second year of graduate school at the University of Michigan pursuing Master degrees in Public Policy and Public Health. Josh has completed health education and HIV/AIDS prevention work in West Africa, and is interested in issues related to tobacco consumption and health disparities in China . Ana Karina Rozas is a second-year Masters in Public Policy student. Her studies focus on quantitative analysis and social policies, and she most recently interned for the Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogota analyzing health policy issues in Colombia . Huong Trieu is a first year doctoral student studying Chinese politics in the Department of Political Science. She has interned at the Asia Society and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Her research interests include government-economic interactions, environmental policy and rural/urban inequality. Xiaoying Yang is a second-year Masters student in Public Policy and Social Work. Her interest lies in social welfare and social services policies. She interned in Tumen Secretariat at United Nations Development Program, Beijing this past summer.
