Lani Guinier, Harvard Legal Professor and Civil Rights expert, was the keynote speaker for MLK Day in 2004. In "Who's Qualified?," the title of one of Guinier's books and this lecture, Guinier moves beyond affirmative action to reconsider the ways in which colleges admit all students. She argues that colleges should practice "confirmative action," meaning that all students should be evaluated and educated to confirm the sacred, democratic mission of higher learning.
